Like many other artists' who like to copy him...I love David Leffel's work. What a wonderful artist! I had the opportunity to watch him work, in person, at one of the Portrait Conferences in NYC a few years ago.
I always thought, but didn't know, I could paint until I was 35 years old. Being in Interior Design for years I drew rooms, drapery sketches and that sort of thing, however, I wasn't very good at just drawing. I saw a watercolor painting at an Art's and Craft's show that I fell in love with, the colors and detail were just beautiful. I had to know who the artist was...and who taught her to paint. And that was the beginning of my journey into the art world. I discovered that even though I was not very good at drawing (I have improved over the years out of necessity), I have been given the gift of painting and it has been my passion for years. I've had the great privilege of studying under some wonderful artist's and instructors, however, I have to give credit where credit is due. I believe that my ability to paint is a gift from God...there is no other way to explain it! I feel that God is painting through me and I want to give Him all the glory. There are things that I instinctively know how to do and can't explain how or why I know how to do them. I feel so blessed to have been given this gift and believe that it's time to share it with others.
